Brief History of the Institute Loyola Ucchtar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Kunkuri, was established on July 1, 1988 by the Madhya Pradesh Jesuit Province to provide quality education in the tribal region of Jashpur District, Chhattisgarh. The school is named after St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Born in 1491 in Spain, Ignatius was a soldier who experienced a deep spiritual conversion after being wounded in battle. He later founded the Jesuit order in 1540, focusing on education, spiritual growth, and social justice. Inspired by this legacy, the school was founded with the motto "Excellence and Transformation." Its goal is to develop intellectually competent, socially responsible, spiritually rooted, and morally upright individuals. The Jesuits believe in forming “men and women for others,” who contribute positively to society. Loyola Kunkuri strives to transform lives through value-based education, discipline, and community service, especially for the marginalized and underprivileged. Over the years, the school has grown in strength and reputation, continuing the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence and holistic development. It remains committed to shaping young minds who will become leaders of change in their communities and beyond.
